World population and economics are rapidly increasing their demand for food. At the same time, agricultural systems are being placed under pressure to meet environmental, social and economic goals. Agricultural Science will provide the tools to address the complex factors that shape agricultural systems.
 
The challenges of a rapidly growing population, climatic changes, the limitations of land and fresh water all have impact on the ability of agriculture to meet the demand for food, fiber and fuel. To address this demand an understanding of the complex factors that shape agricultural systems is necessary.
 
Agricultural Science provides the research, technology and information for the sustainable, profitable and ethical development of the agricultural industry. Studies in agriculture include soil science, genetics, cropping and pasture systems, soil-plant interaction, livestock production, agricultural economics and agribusiness.

1. B.Sc. in Agriculture SCIENCE
The course of Agriculture Science focuses on soil and water conservation, plant breeding and pathology, soil and plant interaction system, agribusiness management and its implementation, live stock production & management and agricultural economics. This course is widely popularized and treated as important knowledgeable course for improving the traditional agriculture practices and provide better yield by involving advance and scientific approaches without affecting the environment.

The curriculum is designed to ensure depth in the area of specialization together with breadth of exposure and intellectual enrichment, and to prepare the students for higher level professional research and development career in national laboratories, Universities and industry. The duration of the program is 4 years. Each academic year is divided into two semesters with a total of 8 semesters.

The total credit hours of the entire curriculum is 156, including physical education, seminar, project, study tour, experimental learning etc.. Classes that may be taught in an agricultural education curriculum include horticulture, land management, turf grass management, aquaculture, small animal care, machine shop classes, health and nutrition, livestock management, biology courses etc.
SCOPE :
Arrow B.Sc. in Agriculture has wide scope and is job orientated. Currently different agriculture based industries (like fertilizer industries and food manufacturing industries); non-government organisations (like Srijan, Pradan and BAIF); private and public sector commercial firms (like Nationalized and Gramin banks) and agricultural certification agencies etc. are recruiting the graduates of agriculture science. 
Arrow Higher degrees like M. Sc in Agriculture with specialization of different disciplines like Horticulture, Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant-Pathology, Plant Breeding etc. can be persuaded.
Arrow With B.Sc.(Ag) one can opt for MBA in Rural Management, Risk Management, ABM (Agri-business Management) etc.
 
2. B.TECH. in Agriculture ENGINEERING

This specialization covers studies of farm machineries, operation and maintenance, techniques and methods of water management and details of irrigation constructions, hydraulics and soil conservation, food production and processing, handling of agricultural produces after harvesting. Agriculture engineering is a necessity of this age for bringing mechanization in the agriculture sector. Practicing high technologies, machineries and techniques for improving the yield with minimum man-power, cost and time.

SCOPE :
Arrow B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering) course has bright and enormous opportunities in the sectors like agricultural machineries manufacturing industries (like tractors companies, agro-machineries industries); Food industries (like Britannia, Nestle and Pepsi-co); post-harvest agro industries (like rice milling industries and solvent plants), central and state government watershed agencies, non-government organizations and government and private banks etc.  
Arrow Higher study after qualifying GATE examination.A candidate can be admitted in I.I.Ts, N.I.Ts for M.Tech degree in several branches like Farm Machinery and Power, Food Engineering, Post-harvest engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agri-system Management, Cryogenic Engineering, Geo-informatics  and Natural Resources Engineering.

3.DIPLOMA in Agriculture SCIENCE
Centurion University of Technology & Management, Odisha has decided to start the two years Diploma course in Agriculture Science from the session 2014-15 with an objective to produce grassroot technical manpower for agriculture and allied sectors and aiming to help the grassroot-level people in the field of technology transfer and guiding farmers in improving their economy.
 
The Diploma course would churn out agro-technicians, who can earn livelihood by taking agricultural jobs for the farmers on payment basis or just establishing their own ventures such as seed production, nursery management, food processing and preservation and bio-fertilizer production. There is a great need for such intermediate-level technicians who can convince the local farmers about low-risk technologies and their applications for better yield.
 
Agriculture, Horticulture and Rural development are covered in the Diploma in Agriculture Science in four semesters, each semester consisting of 15/17 weeks equivalent to 90/100 instructional days. A total number of 20 courses are offered and each course has two/three theories and one practical class in a week.
Duration : 2 years (4 semesters)
Eligibility : 10th Pass with 45% or equivalent grade.
A Diploma student is eligible to join in 1st year B.Sc Agriculture Course.
 
Objective
 
  • To train rural youth so that their services can be utilized in dissemination of technology to farmers in an easily understandable manner.
  • The trained rural youth serve as grass root level functionaries in various government departments and other agencies involved in agriculture/animal husbandry rural development.
  • To train rural youth in agriculture and veterinary, who in turn can utilize the training in implementing improved technologies in their fields, besides generating self employment and gaining employment to serve in the agro-based industries.
 
Course description, features and facilities
 
For students who wish to gain an agriculture diploma course, they will learn many facets including natural resources, soil conditions, agribusiness management, livestock production & agricultural management, the working of agricultural machinery such as harvesters, cropping machinery & other machinery used in the agricultural system.

The Diploma syllabus covers the basics in crop and livestock management, dealing with climate, pests & basic management practices for running a farm. It also covers the sales strategy, marketing plans and devising a budget. The courses are meant to introduce students to basic issues facing farmers and give them the tools needed to deal with most common situations.

A special programme called “PAMP” (Participatory Agricultural Management Programme) is introduced in 3rd semester to learn the production and protection technologies by involving themselves in cultivation of rainfed and irrigated crops. Under this programme the students are being formed into several groups for raising rainfed and irrigated crops.
