About Department

Department of Chemistry offers a high-quality application-oriented Bachelors, Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D. programs in Applied Sciences. Master program in Chemistry makes the department a booming center of excellence in teaching, curriculum development, cutting-edge research and popularizing Chemistry. The department also takes different initiatives to make various collaborations with other university and research organizations for the promotion of research activities. The department would like to attain a wide recognition in research and teaching in chemical sciences . In addition to that the department also strives to contribute to industry and addresses problems of societal importance. Moreover, the department also focuses to popularize chemical sciences by different outreach activities that chemistry education activities that showcase the role of Chemistry as an essential science.
The above programs started in the years 2012 and 2015 respectively. These programs are offered from four campuses of the University, namely, Paralakhemundi, Bhubaneswar, Bolangir and Rayagada. In keeping with the skill orientation of the University, these programs are application oriented with strong skill integration.The School of Applied Sciences (SoAS) offers Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) program for 3 years, Master of Science (M.Sc.) program for 2 years and M. Phil for 1 years.
Interdepartmental Collaborations:
Besides these programs, the University also offers courses in inter-disciplinary areas of JITM +2 Science(CHSE & CBSE), Bachelor and Masters programs in Management, Computer Applications and Vocational disciplines (ITI) of the (GTET & Skill Developments).The syllabi of the programmes are duly approved by the Academic Councils of the University under guidance and participation of academic institutions of repute such as NISER, IIT, R&D and industry partners like Infosys, TCS and the like. As a matter of policy, The syllabi are periodically reviewed and updated every three years. The review of B.Sc. Honours programmes are being undertaken this year under this policy.

Infrastructure

The campus is equipped with state-of-art laboratories, class rooms with audio-visual aids and well-stocked libraries. There are Physics Laboratories, Chemistry Laboratories, Computing & Mathematics Laboratory dedicated for the above mentioned programs.
