About Department

Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2008. The department provides an outstanding research environment along with teaching for its students in multidisciplinary streams. The department offers academic programmes leading to B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees. Apart from these, department also taking care of mathematics courses of all undergraduate and post graduate programmes of engineering, management and health science departments, currently running in CUTM, BBSR.

The department is well equipped with highly qualified faculty members and computational labs. The faculty members of department of Mathematics, CUTM BBSR are actively working in the following thrust areas:

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics and Numerical Methods
  • Differential and Difference Equations
  • Functional Analysis
  • Soft Computing, Machine Learning and Statistical Inference.

Achievements

  • One of our M.Sc. student, Harapriya  Patri (170705110001) received University Gold Medal for the Academic Year 2018-19 for scoring highest CGPA in all M.Sc. programmes, all the campuses. She is also Merit Certificate Recipients for the Academic Year 2018-19.
  • One of our M.Sc. student, Krishna Kumari Vegad (160705110006) received University Gold Medal for the Academic Year 2017-18 for scoring highest CGPA in M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics) in all the campuses.
  • Department have more than 40 research publications in WoS/SCI/Scopus/UGC Indexed Journals.
  • Faculty members of the department have participated and presented more than 30 of their research papers in different International/National Conferences/Seminars.
  • Students are presenting their project works in different International/National Conferences/Seminars on regular basis.

Seminars & Workshops

  • J. Prakash, Professor, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, University of Botswana delivered an invited talk on “Beauty And Fun In Mathematics And Some Suggested Ways For A Happy Living And Good Learning” on 12/30/2016.
  • S K Mishra, Ex-Reader, Department of Mathematics, Berhampur University, Berhampur, Odisha delivered an invited talk on “Computational Fluid Dynamics: Problem Solving with Computer” on 07.04.2017.
  • Tarini Chandra Panda, Former Professor & Head, Dept. of Mathematics, Berhampur University delivered an invited talk on “Mathematical Modelling of Physical Processes” on 05.05.2018.
  • A 2 days FDP was conducted on “Basics of Matlab Programming” during June 12-13, 2018 by Mr. Kaliprasad Rath &  Dr. Goutam Kumar Mahato, Dept. of Mathematics, CUTM. Around 20 faculties from different disciplines and campuses participated in the programme

Infrastructural facilities

The campus is equipped with state-of-art laboratories, class rooms with audio-visual aids and well-stocked libraries. There are Physics Laboratories, Chemistry Laboratories, Computing & Mathematics Laboratory dedicated for the above mentioned programs.
