The Department of Mechanical Engineering has strategic alliances with companies like NALCO, HAL, VEDANTA & JINDAL other than CTTC, CIPET, IIW & NSIC to provide superior theoretical and practical training. Besides, the Department has also provided Pro E and Ansys software in its labs. The mission of the Department is to establish itself as a centre of excellence in the field of Mechanical Engineering, through innovative teaching-learning methods, intensive CAD/CAM short term programs,Inudstry-Institute partnerships. The department focusses on manufacturing, welding, automotive design and auto service sector skill development.

The well-equipped laboratories and dedicated, qualified and committed faculty and supporting staff together form the core of the branch.

We have diverse methods of learning at Centurion, beyond the classroom and traditional chalk and talk
Become a State-of-the-Art learning centre in the field of design and manufacturing.

. Develop skilled and employable manpower for "Make in India" Mission.
. Undertake research in the areas of welding design and manufacturing .
. Promote a production oriented learning pedagogy.

Arrow Challenges for Students from Industry
Arrow Training is a key factor in enhancing the efficiency and expertise of the workforce..
Arrow The Students Work Experience program prepares students for labour markets.
Arrow It has become an innovative phenomenon in human resources development and training.
Arrow Increased specialization of skills means that the term “profession” is now used for certain occupations which enjoy prestige and which give esoteric service.Such professions include architects, surveyors, librarians and information scientists, and engineers, among others
Arrow Practical knowledge is learning without which mastery of an area of knowledge may be too difficult to achieve. Practical knowledge involves developing skills through the use of tools or equipment to perform tasks that are related to a field of study.
Arrow Mechanical syllabus is designed by industrial and academic experts through several Board of studies meeting. It includes all the theory and practical knowledge required to meet the challenges for students from industry
Arrow To meet the challenge mechanical department of CUTM has introduced certification courses which articulate the students in practical knowledge in conventional machining, CNC machining, RAC - Installation & Maintenance, automotive mechanic, oil power hydraulic mechanic, BEML Loader - Operation & Maintenance, Diesel Forklift - Operation & Maintenance, TIG and MIG welding etc.
Arrow Summer Training

Mechanical department is sending its students during summer to different industries like NALCO.HAL(Sunabeda),NTPC (Kaniha), Birla tyres, Raygada paper mill. Konark cement,OCL etc.,to gain Knowledge in power generation, processing industries and manufacturing industries.

The Mini Tool Room and Training Center (MTRTC) is the only tool room in Odisha which is established in PPP mode with a total project cost of 12.6 crores, out of which the Odisha Government’s contribution is 4 crores. MTRTC has state of the art machinery:

Arrow Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)
Arrow Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
Arrow Wire cut EDM
Arrow Die Sinking EDM
Arrow CNC Machines with Mazak Controller
Arrow Fanuc Controller
Arrow Profile projector
Arrow Micro height

Design and analysis software packages like ANSYS, Stad-Pro, Pro- E and CADian

MTRTC is an integral part of the university to cater the needs of research scholars to undertake various research activities using the technology and analyzing facility. Learners acquire the knowledge and gain relevant practice skills. It provides a platform for the Undergraduate students to develop their employable skills by undergoing short-term courses like CNC programming, courses on ANSYS, PRO-E and Stad- Pro. Government of Odisha has approved 36 courses and its respective fee structure for it. MTRTC is also working as a valuable source for the school drop outs, school passouts, ITI students and Diploma students to enhance their employable skills.
