Our Story

The Centre for Agriculture Production is a premier hub dedicated to advancing agricultural productivity through cutting-edge production technologies and the adaptation of innovative farming practices. Established with a strong focus on applied research and practical solutions, the Centre comprises 24 specialized research units supported by a team of 44 experienced faculty members from diverse branches of Agricultural Sciences.

These units actively work on critical areas such as high-yield production systems, efficient utilization of agricultural inputs, and sustainable farming technologies. The centre also offers specialized certificate and skill development courses within each research unit, providing students with hands-on experience.

Through a balanced blend of research, technology dissemination, student engagement, and entrepreneurship development, CAP strives to bridge the gap between scientific advancements and real-world farming applications — contributing significantly to sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods.

Our Vision

  • To become a leading centre of excellence in agricultural production research, innovation, and technology dissemination for sustainable and climate-resilient farming systems.
  • To enhance agricultural productivity and profitability through scientific interventions and efficient resource management.
  • To promote eco-friendly and sustainable agricultural practices for ensuring food, nutritional, and environmental security.
  • To empower farmers, researchers, and students with advanced knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors.
  • To contribute towards rural development and livelihood improvement through innovative agricultural production technologies.

Our Mission

  • Advance agricultural productivity through cutting-edge research in production technologies and the adaptation of innovative practices.
  • Develop, standardize, and disseminate sustainable technologies in mushroom cultivation, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, vermicomposting, seed production, dairy, beekeeping, and other allied sectors.
  • Conduct focused research on high-yield systems and efficient use of agricultural inputs through 24 diverse units.
  • Promote organic and eco-friendly agricultural practices through the production and application of biological inputs.
  • Strengthen capacity building and skill development among farmers, students, and stakeholders through training and demonstrations.
  • Encourage entrepreneurship and income generation through commercial production units.
  • Develop and disseminate climate-resilient, nutritionally superior crop varieties such as DiaFit Rice (low-GI) and other value-added products.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among scientists and institutions for advancing agricultural innovation.
