Centre Overview

Governing for a Sustainable Tomorrow

The Centre for Governance and Sustainable Societies (CGSS) at CUTM is dedicated to research, policy analysis, and community engagement in the domains of governance, social equity, and sustainable development. Established in August 2020, the centre brings together scholars from social sciences, development studies, law, and management to address complex societal challenges.

The centre focuses on capacity building through conferences, webinars, seminars, and field exposure visits. It conducts brainstorming sessions and workshops to design effective development interventions, and carries out consultancy projects and academic research to support institutions, government bodies, and communities.

International Conference on Innovation, Business & Digital Transformation (INNOVA 2026)
Organized by the School of Management, CUTM, INNOVA 2026 served as a global platform for academicians, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers. The event received 96 research paper submissions across six thematic areas through twelve parallel technical sessions covering digital marketing, AI, FinTech, sustainability, governance, and entrepreneurship. B-School Meet & Tarang Bazaar under VIBRANZ 2026
Three-day event combining academic competitions, entrepreneurial exposure, cultural performances, and entertainment. Competitions included Crack the Case, Battle of Brains, Sur Sangam, Step Battle, Walk of Fame, Videography, Photography, and E-Sports (BGMI/Free Fire). Tarang Bazaar gave students real-time entrepreneurial exposure. 700+ participants from various universities.

Social (Rural) Immersion Program — GITAM University & MBA (ABM), CUTM PKD
A key experiential learning initiative with 400 GITAM University students and 8 faculty members across four phases, plus 10 MBA (ABM) students and 6 CUTM PKD faculty. Five villages from Gumma Block were selected for community engagement, facilitated by Mother Teresa Charitable Trust. Activities included household surveys, farmer interactions, PAR activities, and panchayat discussions. Total program value: ₹33,00,000.

MoU Signed with Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation (BRLF)
CUTM signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BRLF to collaborate on research, documentation, training and skill development, and field-level demonstrations and trials. This partnership focuses on agricultural development and farmers' empowerment in the tribal regions of Odisha. The MoU will remain in effect for three years, concluding in June 2028.
