About the Programme
A foundational nursing course focused on maternal and child health. It prepares candidates to work as health workers in rural and urban settings.
Duration
2 years (including internship)
10+2 with any stream (Arts/Science)
Minimum 40% marks
Age: 17 to 35 years
Graduates of the ANM program are the first point of contact for medical services in underserved areas. After registration with the State Nursing Council, certified ANMs can pursue rewarding careers as:
- Auxiliary Nurse Midwives in sub-centers and PHCs
- Female Health Workers (FHWs) under National Health Missions
- Community Health Workers
- Home Care Nurses
- Health Educators
They are also eligible to pursue further studies such as:
- GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery)
- Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing
- Specialized healthcare certifications
With experience, ANMs can move up to supervisory roles or even become public health facilitators, contributing significantly to maternal and child health outcomes in India.
