- A candidate who has completed 6 months Certified Ward Technician Course from DMET affiliated Institute/University.
- Assess and monitor the health status and disease condition of individual patient.
- Diagnose and manage common illnesses in the community, especially all notifiable diseases, and communicable diseases.
- Provide emergency care for common medical problems and appropriate referrals.
- Integrated community management, case management of Malaria, ARI, Pneumonia, diarrhoea, ENT infections in under 5 children
- Participate and assist in the prevention and control of communicable diseases and proper execution of National health programmes
- Investigate disease outbreaks and their basic management and follow-up of public health problems in the village level
- Run a village-based rural laboratory and do basic laboratory investigations.
- Promote village and environmental Sanitation
- Run chronic illnesses or disease-specific programmes (non-communicable diseases) with the guidance of physicians
- Augmented antenatal care of pregnant women
- Conduct normal delivery in centre and home and able to refer appropriately in case of emergencies
- Provide home based care (HBNC), and Sick new born care in the health centres.
- Detection and run community-based therapeutic management of severe malnutrition of under-five children in the village, management of complicated SAM in hospital under the guidance of doctors.
- Management of injuries
- Community based Geriatric care and mental health care.
- Build the capacity of the village health workers (ASHAs, Swasthya Sathis) and Anganwadi workers
- Organise and conduct adolescent health programme in the village and health education to them
- Conduct school health programme in village schools and promote health and nutrition practices in primary schools.
- To do social audit and monitoring in various social welfare programs
