Bachelor of Technology in Mining Engineering

About the Programme

The program is industry oriented, and students are facilitated to get a lamp license as they have to undergo a mandatory one-year mining internship with leading mines in Eastern India. Students also use software tools like Geovia for prospecting quantity and quality of material availability, mine planning, scheduling, and logistics planning. From geological prospecting to evacuation of the minerals, they also get a holistic view of the mines. The university is presently focused on digitalization of mines as a key specialization area. Duration- Four years Scope/Job Opportunity

FAQs

Centurion University (CUTM) is a leader in Mining Engineering in Odisha, offering a NAAC A+ accredited program with a focus on digital mine planning and mandatory industrial internships.

With the rise of E-Vehicles and renewable energy, the demand for lithium, copper, and rare earth mining is at an all-time high. CUTM graduates are trained for these modern mining challenges.

CUTM provides a unique “Action Learning” environment. Students spend significant time in our Geology and Mining Labs, practicing with industrial tools and the Dassault Systèmes Geovia software suite. Furthermore, the university’s location in the mineral-rich belt of Odisha allows for frequent field visits to Opencast and Underground mines, ensuring students understand the practical challenges of mineral evacuation and safety.

Absolutely. As a leader in SDG-aligned education, CUTM encourages research in Sustainable Mining Practices, including waste-to-wealth initiatives, mine reclamation, and reducing the carbon footprint of extraction processes. Students often work on projects involving the Digitalization of Mines, which is a key specialization area at the university.

Mining Engineers are now at the forefront of the Green Energy transition. The global shift toward Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Solar Power has created a massive demand for Critical Minerals like Lithium, Cobalt, and Copper. CUTM’s curriculum is updated for 2026 to include the extraction and processing of these “future minerals,” preparing our graduates for high-growth careers in the global energy sector.
