With food prices at an all-time high due to factors like supply chain disruptions, inflation, and labour shortages, finding affordable yet nutritious meals can be a challenge. While processed foods and ready-made meals may seem like convenient and low-cost options, they often contain high levels of saturated fats, sugars, and salts. In contrast, Centurion University is committed to providing healthy, affordable, and fresh food alternatives for its campus community.

The University’s multi-cuisine dining halls offer a wide variety of meal options that cater to diverse dietary preferences, including vegetarian and international cuisine. The chefs prioritise fresh, high-quality ingredients to ensure a nutritious and enjoyable dining experience.

Mess Food

The campus mess serves balanced meals consisting of carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, fibre, minerals, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and occasional sweets. The menu is designed to meet the daily nutritional needs of the campus community at an affordable cost

The University’s air-conditioned restaurant and on-campus dhaba offer a wide selection of meals at reasonable prices. These outlets maintain high standards of quality and quantity, making them popular among students and faculty alike.

Centurion Coffee Connect (CCC)

The CUTM CCC serves a variety of healthy yet tasty items such as pizzas, burgers, cupcakes, and a range of beverages, including cold coffees, espresso, hot chocolate, milkshakes, and mocktails. It offers a comfortable and refreshing environment for students to relax and enjoy affordable meals.

Dairy Unit and Mini Dairy Unit: The dairy unit of Centurion University produces 220 litres of milk per day, which consists of 165 litres of cow milk and 55 litres of buffalo milk. The unit produces 3460 litres of curd per month and sells it at a rate of Rs 60/litre. This also produces 40 kilos of ghee and 110 kg of paneer per month and sells them at a rate of Rs 900/ Kilo and Rs. 300/ Kg, respectively. Paneer has numerous health benefits. It contains high protein and calcium content which makes it an ideal food for bodybuilding. It strengthens bones and teeth and prevents skeletal deformation. Curd is helpful in relieving constipation and indigestion.

Mini Dairy Products

Dragon Fruit: Dragon Fruit is rich in several antioxidants, which have the ability to scavenge free radicals. It is considered a “Super Fruit” as it has anti-cancer properties, and it is grown in a dragon fruit unit situated on the Paralakhemundi campus.

Mushroom Unit: The mushroom unit at Centurion is spread out in an area of 3,600 sq mt with a capacity of 600 beds. The paddy straw mushroom cultivated yields approximately 100kg of mushroom/bed. Button mushroom cultivation has started in the unit, and it is showing a very good yield of approximately 600 kg in one cycle. The unit also produces some products like mushroom pakora, mushroom pizza, mushroom pickles, and mushroom cookies.

Baking Unit: The baking unit in Centurion has been dishing out a line of products, especially with millets (ragi cupcakes, ragi bread, ragi biscuits, ragi muffins) as well as from wheat such as wheat bread and wheat pizza, keeping in view the health benefits of ragi. Ragi (finger millet) is a rich source of calcium (100 g of flour contains 344 mg of calcium) and iron, gluten-free, and contains the essential amino acid methionine. The baked products exclude refined sugar and are substituted with jaggery (a rich source of iron) and served as a snack to meet the nutritional requirements of the students.
