Pavers Manufacturing Unit

Genesis

To support the students in their projects and impart skill-based knowledge to the students, the Pavers Manufacturing Unit commenced on 14 November 2011 for the development of student learning. Centurion University’s charter has adopted the framework of the Skill Integrated Higher Education model since the enactment of the CUTM Act 2010.

Aims and Objectives

Besides skill integration, the Unit has resulted in the enactment of several Central of Excellence as it serves as a state-of-the-art learning facility and action learning laboratory. Learning at Centurion University is accomplished in Action Learning Labs and Production Centres as well. Production Centres cater to the manufacturing of products and services besides engaging students in action learning.

Products Available

The manufacturing of pavers includes a variety of shapes and sizes which are used as per the requirements. The designs range from hexagonal, square, and rectangle to zig-zag and many more.

Benefits

Being self-sufficient, the university has been able to meet its requirements for pavers across all its campuses through the Pavers Manufacturing Unit. Through this unit, the ample need for pavers is fulfilled without putting a load on the expenditure and the costs. The cost of GST, transportation, loading and unloading is cut down as it is the production of the Univesity itself. The pavers come in many sizes ranging from small to big, giving an endless number of laying patterns to choose from. This charmingly weathered style paver gives complete design flexibility with individually packaged stone units.

Future goals

Since its inception, the Unit has grown in length and breadth. The \government has aided the University by providing it with a Vibrator Machine for manufacturing which was much-needed. Likewise, more types of machinery and newer designs of moulds are also expected to be brought to the Unit for better working and learning for the students.

Adherence to SDGs

The Pavers Manufacturing Unit at Centurion University aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations. The Unit was established to impart skill-based knowledge to the students, promoting quality education and aligning with SDG 4 – Quality Education. The Unit serves as a state-of-the-art learning facility and action learning laboratory that promotes innovation and infrastructure development, aligning with SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. The pavers manufactured by the Unit can be used for various construction projects in communities, promoting sustainable cities and communities and aligning with SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities. Finally, the Unit is a prime example of responsible consumption and production, aligning with SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, as it fulfils the University’s requirement for pavers without putting a load on expenditure and costs and can manufacture pavers in various sizes and designs, reducing wastage.
