5. Gender Equality

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 is a pivotal global objective aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. Centurion University of Technology and Management demonstrates its steadfast commitment to this goal through a diverse range of programs and initiatives designed to foster gender equality, eliminate discrimination, and create opportunities for women and girls to thrive in various aspects of life, including education, employment, and social participation.

Community Engagements:

Centurion University collaborates with the local community, including the Women`s Self-Help Group and other non-governmental organizations, to promote gender equality (SDG 5). Through workshops and programs, the University facilitates knowledge sharing and strengthens partnerships.

Academics

Centurion University has implemented a mandatory curriculum component encompassing Gender Human Rights and Ethics across all its programs and courses. This educational initiative serves to raise awareness and sensitize students on topics related to gender equality, human rights, and ethical principles.

Research

As of 2022, the University has successfully published a total of 9 research papers, reflecting its commitment to scholarly endeavors and knowledge dissemination. The institution is dedicated to expanding its research portfolio further, with an unwavering resolve to contribute significantly to the academic and scientific community through the creation and dissemination of new knowledge.

Entrepreneurship

Students and staff at the University are nurtured with a scientific mindset that fosters the cultivation of fresh ideas and entrepreneurial endeavors. Notably, the University boasts a remarkable tally of 49 start-ups, each a testament to its commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurial spirit. Among these, “Sangam Designs” stands out as an exemplary case—a women-led start-up dedicated to creating employment opportunities for differently-abled women. This endeavor is a shining example of the University’s dedication to promoting diversity and inclusivity while stimulating economic growth through innovative ventures.

Social Impact

Centurion University is committed to advancing women into more prominent leadership roles. As of 2022, the University and its social entrepreneurial initiatives have a total of around 32 high-ranking leadership positions, with 14 of them currently held by accomplished women. Additionally, as a point of pride in its efforts to empower marginalized communities, the University’s social entrepreneurial outreach has provided training to over 20 transgender individuals as forklift truck operators, facilitating their inclusion in the workforce and supporting their growth and development.
