About US
Research Centre for Smart Agriculture
Our mission is to revolutionize farming practices and empower agricultural communities with cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions. We are dedicated to exploring the full potential of smart agriculture by integrating advanced technologies—such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics—into everyday farming operations. Through robust research, we aim to enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability across the agricultural sector.
Focus Areas
Advanced Infrastructure & Key Focus Areas
Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest resources to conduct advanced experiments, develop new methodologies, and validate modern farming techniques. Our research primarily focuses on four core areas:
- Precision Farming: Optimizing the use of critical inputs like water, fertilizers, and pesticides to maximize efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. We leverage data-driven decision-making, remote sensing, and real-time monitoring systems to enable farmers to make informed crop management choices.
- Protected Cultivation: Exploring automated greenhouses, IoT-based climate control, and sensor-driven systems to create ideal growing conditions for high-value crops like flowers and vegetables. By integrating automation, we maximize yield, quality, and year-round production.
- Resource Management: Investigating sustainable practices to optimize resource utilization and minimize waste. Key initiatives include the implementation of micro-irrigation, advanced mulching techniques, and soilless culture systems to maintain soil health and ensure efficient water usage.
- Crop Optimization & Advanced Analytics: Standardizing saffron cultivation under controlled environmental conditions, alongside utilizing hyperspectral and multispectral image analysis to map and monitor soil nutrient status.
Outcomes
- A validated and standardized imaging system that enables accurate real-time crop health assessment.
- Enhanced efficiency and precision in protected cultivation through automated monitoring and control of environmental conditions.
- Standardized hydroponic systems enabling efficient, high-quality production of exotic and high-value vegetables with optimal resource use and year-round cultivation.
- Optimized controlled-environment protocols enabling successful saffron cultivation in non-traditional regions with consistent yield and quality.
Ongoing/ Completed projects
- 1000 science Trial program on Kyminasi Plants- Crop Booster (KPCB) funded by Harvest Harmonics, Florida, USA.
- Spreader study of Dov on different crops like rice, maize and cotton, sponsored by Heetu Chemicals, Maharashtra.
