About Us

Dr. Sujata Chakravarty a Senior Member of IEEE and Chair of Women in Engineering at IEEE Bhubaneswar Subsection, holds multiple prestigious positions including Dean of the School of Engineering & Technology (SoET) and CEO of the Data Science & Machine Learning Research Centre at Centurion University of Technology & Management, Odisha. She also serves as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering.
With an outstanding record of 230 publications, one granted patent, eleven published patents, one book, and 35 book chapters, her contributions are widely recognized. Her patent on “Multi-Level Security and Detection System to Avert Elephant Accidents at Railway Tracks” earned appreciation across India. Moreover, three of her articles have been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and are featured on their website.
Dr. Chakravarty has guided eleven PhD scholars, two more have submitted their theses, and mentored twenty MTech students. Currently, she supervises eight PhD candidates working on cutting-edge topics like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Financial Engineering, Intrusion Detection, Biomedical Engineering, Smart Agriculture, Healthcare Systems, Evolutionary Computing Techniques, Image Processing, and Hyperspectral and Multispectral Imaging. She has received three Best Paper Awards at International Conferences.
A reviewer for SERB research grant proposals, Dr. Chakravarty also reviews for prestigious journals including Elsevier, IEEE, Springer, and MDPI. She has delivered keynote addresses at institutions like IITs and NITs, IIITs, chaired technical sessions at international conferences, and played a vital role in IEEE and Springer conferences, FDPs, and seminars.
Dr. Chakravarty has organized notable AICTE-sponsored National Level Hackathons, including the Smart India Hackathon (August 25-29, 2022), Solving for India – GeekforGeek (May 25, 2023), and KAVACH Cyber Security Hackathon (August 8-10, 2023) and AVALANCHE Hackathon (September 26 – 27, 2024). Additionally, she secured a research grant from the DS Foundation, Dassault System, for a project on “Cost-effective ICT Data Analytics System for Efficient Management of Water and Fertilizer in Precision Agriculture” (May 16, 2022, for three years).
Her accolades include the Jhansi Rani Laxmibai Prativa Puraskar for Technical Education and Research (March 8, 2018), the Abdul Kalam Chair Professor Award (September 5, 2021), the Medal of Honour and Certificate of Excellence (August 15, 2022), the Outstanding Contributor Award (August 15, 2023), and most recently, the Best Women Volunteer Award by IEEE Bhubaneswar Subsection in 13th January 2024 and Odisha Technocrat Award in 15th September 2024.
