Affordable Housing for Employees Students

In pursuit of creating an inclusive environment, the University has initiated a pioneering effort since 2010 to provide affordable housing solutions. This case study examines how the University addressed the pressing need for accessible housing, enriching its community through this initiative.

Located in an urban area on the Bhubaneswar and Paralakhemundi campuses, the University identified challenges faced by its employees and students in securing affordable housing due to rising costs and limited availability. Acknowledging housing’s pivotal role in fostering a conducive environment for learning and work, the University took proactive steps to alleviate this issue.

In the implementation the University has delivered the following:

  • The university collaborated with developers to create housing complexes near the campus, ensuring convenience and accessibility tailored to the needs of its community.
  • Introduced programs offering reduced rental rates and flexible payment options, aiming to ease financial burdens for employees and students
  • Recognising varied needs, the University provided apartments, dormitories, and shared units, promoting inclusivity and community integration on campus

The Outcomes are as follows:

  • The initiative significantly improved access to quality housing, eliminating logistical barriers for employees and students.
  • Affordable housing reduces financial stress, enabling individuals to focus on academic and professional pursuits.
  • Proximity fostered greater collaboration and support among community members, enhancing social connections and academic success.
