The M.F.Sc. (Aquaculture) program is research-driven and designed to develop advanced expertise in diverse aspects of aquaculture science. The program emphasizes emerging fields of aquaculture research which includes areas such as fish and shellfish breeding and seed production, nutrition and feed formulation, genetics and biotechnology, fish health management, aquatic environmental monitoring, and sustainable aquaculture systems. Students are encouraged to undertake independent research projects addressing real-world challenges in aquaculture. The school provides state-of-the-art laboratory facilities including wet laboratories, hatcheries, Biofloc and RAS units, feed mill, and aquaponic systems. The school actively collaborates with ICAR institutes and Aquaculture Industries, providing a strong research environment and opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. The program prepares scholars for careers in research, academia, and innovation-led aquaculture enterprises, with a vision to contribute to food security, sustainability, and the growth of the blue economy.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.) from a recognized university accredited by ICAR.

Minimum Marks Required

  • General / OBC / UPS category: Minimum 60% aggregate in graduation.
  • SC / ST / PwD category: Minimum 50% aggregate in graduation.
  • Scientist in ICAR institutes (via ICAR-ARS exam).
  • Assistant Professor in Fisheries Universities/Colleges.
  • Assistant Fisheries Officer (AFO) / Fisheries Development Officer (FDO) in state fisheries departments.
  • Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) in Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).
  • Technical Officer in central/state agencies.
  • Pursue Ph.D. in Aquaculture/Fisheries Science.
  • Research Associate / JRF / SRF in ICAR, DBT, CSIR, or state projects.
  • Hatchery manager / broodstock specialist (fish/shrimp hatcheries).
  • Aquafeed industry (R&D, quality control, technical sales).
  • Corporate aquaculture farms (production manager, consultant).
  • Fisheries pharma/biotech companies (disease management, probiotics, vaccines).
