EVENTS FOR LOCAL FARMERS AND FOOD PRODUCERS TO CONNECT AND TRANSFER KNOWLEDGE

Kisan Mela: Centurion University has organised a Kisan Mela on 12th June 2023 aimed at supporting local farmers in improving crop production techniques. The event provided a platform for farmers to interact with agricultural experts, gain knowledge on advanced farming practices, and explore innovations in sustainable agriculture. All the mela was filled with various departments of the University related to agricultural crop production, crop protection, crop improvement, agriculture mechanisation, and allied sectors like fisheries, animal sciences, etc.

The University has organised Workshops on soil health management, pest control, organic farming, and modern irrigation techniques were conducted. Additionally, various agri-based startups and companies exhibited their products, offering affordable tools and technologies for better yield. The Kisan Mela also focused on promoting eco-friendly practices and enhancing the economic stability of the farming community through resource optimisation and scientific methods

During the Exposure Visit, Farmers Visited the Following Units:

  8. Livestock and Poultry Management

  10. Horticulture Nursery
  11. Hi-tech polyhouse
  12. Dragon Fruit
  13. Protected Cultivation
  14. Block Mushroom Farming

Since 2016, Centurion University in Gajapati, Odisha, has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as an Innovation Funded Partner. This collaboration aims to strengthen the agricultural sector by enhancing the skills of both farmers and Community Resource Persons (CRPs). To date, approximately 4,000 farmers have been trained in various roles including Mushroom Cultivation, Vermicomposting, and Organic Farming, while 180 CRPs have been equipped to further promote agricultural advancement.
