Low-Income Student Support

Low-income student support

The University has six campuses in geographically challenged and remote locations where previously few institutions flourished namely, Paralakhemundi, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Bolangir, Rayagada and Chatrapur. The presence of the University has provided avenues for youth from aspirational districts to pursue higher education. It was also seen that there was no pipeline of students for higher education as there were no good schools. For this reason, the university management started schools at three locations.

The University complies with the Government of India’s Reservation Laws, to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes in case of direct recruitment on an all-India basis by open competition is given at the rate of 15%, 7.5% and 27%, respectively. As the University is located across regional and rural areas of Odisha, the target setting is a critical step toward promoting inclusivity and socioeconomic diversity in higher education. Centurion University does the following to accomplish this:

  1. Financial Aid and Scholarships: The University has developed a robust financial aid system by itself and has also linked with various Government and Non-Government organisations for scholarships and grants to meet the specific needs of economically disadvantaged students.
  2. Technology Access: Ensuring economically backward students including SC, ST and OBC access necessary technology, such as laptops and internet connections.
  3. Online Courses: Offering online courses and degree programs can provide flexibility for students who need to work or have other commitments.
  4. Application Fee Waivers: The University charges no tuition fee for low-income students. This encourages them to apply and explore their educational options.
  5. Support Services: The University offers comprehensive support services such as subsidised food, transportation, boarding facilities, and mentorship programs to help students from diverse backgrounds succeed financially, academically and personally. The slow learners are identified and are offered remedial classes as additional support in specific subjects.
