Besides, physical activity can positively impact mental health and cognitive development. Exercise/ sports are associated with bolstering self-esteem and confidence and have been found to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Free local school sports programs
The Sports Department of Centurion University is actively organising a range of sports programs such as Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Fitness competitions in collaboration with local schools/ Colleges/ communities free of cost. Recognising sports as a crucial catalyst for long-term development, the university acknowledges its role in promoting health and tolerance and empowering individuals and communities alike. Therefore, Centurion University of Technology and Management organises several sports activities with other Universities and the local community to boost the energy and spirit of the students.
Centurion organises an annual senior inter-district T20 cricket championship to motivate local participants to participate in the sports event.
Inter-University Basketball Championship (MEN)
Centurion University, Bhubaneswar campus, organised the Inter-University Basketball Championship (MEN) on 3rd October 2023, where ten teams from different universities from Odisha participated.
The University also organises sports activities like Kabaddi, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, kho-kho, and Power Lifting during the Independence Day celebration. Students from nearby colleges enthusiastically participate in these events. Sports activities like basketball and badminton are also organised for women’s participation, and many women are seen actively participating and enjoying the sport.

Revenue generated is reinvested into the facility for upgrades, hiring skilled coaches, and supporting community initiatives for health promotion.
