Dr. Satyanarayan Dhal is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, School of Applied Sciences, Centurion University of Technology and Management, Odisha. Also, Currently, he is heading the Centre for New Materials at Centurion University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 with research focused on the interaction of ions with nanostructured surfaces. With over 7 years of academic and post PhD research experience, he has contributed significantly to the fields of ion beam modification, nanomaterials, and advanced material characterization. He has published more than 25 research articles in reputed SCI-indexed international journals, contributed to book chapters, and presented his work at major national and international conferences, including invited talks at NBL-2023, NIT Srinagar. His research has been showcased internationally, including at REI-19, Versailles, France (supported by IAEA). He has supervised 7 master’s theses and 1 ongoing (Submitted) Ph.D. thesis, and has been awarded research grants from SERB, India, and UGC-DAE Consortium for Scientific Research. He has been granted one Utility patent and filed additional patents in nanostructured coatings. His research interests include supercapacitor development using ion-modified nanomaterials, wettability tuning, nanostructure synthesis, and multiscale simulations. He is skilled in various advanced experimental and computational techniques including UHV systems, spectroscopy, FESEM, HRTEM, Raman, PL, XPS, SRIM/TRIM, SIMION, and BIOVIA Material Studio. He has developed 1 Skill Course on “Artificial Intelligence of Materials Science”. Dr. Dhal received the Ganesh Mishra Memorial Award (2016), Best Poster Award at IBMEC, IUAC New Delhi (2016), and IAEA Travel Grant (2017) and also the Distinguished Achiever Award from CUTM. He continues to contribute actively to research, academic program development, and scientific collaborations in emerging areas of materials science.
