The SDG courses Climate Change, Sustainability, and Organizations, Gender, Human Rights and Ethics and Human Values and Ethics are mandatory for all the 1st year students of all the programs offered by the University.

  • Climate Change, Sustainability, and Organizations

The key objectives in developing an understanding of climate change include fostering a broad awareness of its general impact, responses, and ongoing debates. It is essential to recognize how climate change influences organizations, affecting their performance, growth, and long-term sustainability.

  • Gender, Human Rights and Ethics

Centurion University prioritizes gender equality and human rights in its academic programs. The University has established a Centre for Women’s Studies and Development to promote women’s empowerment and address issues like gender-based violence. The university also emphasizes ethics in its research and academic activities, encouraging students to adopt a socially responsible approach in their studies and professional careers.   • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture:- The Agricultural Science Department at Centurion allows students to experience a holistic approach to the study of food and fiber production and their association and interaction with societal concerns. At Centurion, our focus is on a sustainable agricultural system. Agriculture is very crucial for eliminating hunger and poverty in the world. However, responsible agriculture is of utmost importance for life on land. To elevate the economic status of people, agriculture needs support of smart technology.

The course directly addresses SDGs like:-

It mainly focuses on Sustainable and organic farming practices and emphasizes the  application of Smart Agricultural technologies such as Drone usage, IoT in farming, etc.

Electives:-

  • Environmental Science and Sustainability:-This course fosters a holistic understanding of Environmental Science by emphasizing its multidisciplinary nature, where various aspects like ecology, sustainability, and policy intersect. Students are encouraged to develop community responsibility through awareness of environmental issues in a broader societal context. Additionally, the course deepens students’ understanding of climate change and its wide-reaching impacts, particularly concerning Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), helping them connect global challenges with practical solutions for sustainability.

Water Resource Management:- This course provides the sustainable management of water resources, conservation, and pollution control techniques. Water Resource Management is designed to address sustainability challenges while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  • This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of water management principles, emphasizing the critical importance of sustainable water practices in ensuring equitable access to clean water and sanitation.
  • The curriculum also incorporates climate action elements by addressing climate change’s impacts on water resources and advocating for adaptive management strategies.
  • Through practical learning experiences, including field studies and collaborations with local communities, the course instills a sense of community responsibility and awareness of the social implications of water management.
